...since my last post. I haven't fallen off the world although the last few weeks kinda felt like it. In a nut shell, here is what I have been up to:
The weekend after my last post, G and I went to the Isle of Wight with his parents for a lovely cycling trip. The weather has been really beautiful lately (still is). Caught the car ferry over with our bikes in tow. Drove to quaint BnB, picked up some bikes for the parents, had quick lunch, set off on our bikes and that is where things went belly up. Not more than 5 -10 mins after setting off we were cycling down a shady country lane (paved and downhill). There was a steep, small speed bump. I hit it, the bike stopped and I went over the handle bars, badly damaging myself and requiring an ambulance. I was a mess. A deep gash in my chin requiring 6 stitches, a fat lip, broken front tooth, grazing all down my face, and a right hand that swelled up like a tennis ball. Amazingly after x-rays of my face, chest and hand revealed no broken bones! All in all I was very luck I didn't break my neck frankly. Poor G had nightmares afterwards, he was cycling behind me and saw the whole event. No more cycling for me that weekend.
So the last few weeks I have been recovering. One benefit of my job is I can work from home and with the aching in my ribs and hand, that was a good thing. Although I think I scared my workmate when he dropped off my laptop and paperwork.
My mum arrived in the UK a week later. One weekend we spent in London with my mum. Again we were blessed with beautiful weather (mum had never experienced warm weather in the UK and I wasn't sure she believed me that it happens occasionally!). We visited Greenwich, the TATE (loved the comparison of Rothko and Turner) and the National Portrait Gallery (mmm Holbein...).
Last week I flew to Dubrovnik, Croatia for work. Managed to see a little and swim in the Adratic -oh the water is the clearest I have ever seen!! Crystal! The old town was cool and the food amazing. This meeting went a lot smoother that the last one. I think I am getting the hang of it, but it is still exhausting!
This weekend is the final with all the parents. We are off to Salisbury. One of my favourites.

Sorry to hear about your accident but I'm glad you've recovered.
Did it leave scars? 'Cause scars are always interesting...
